Can my MySpace Standalone Player automatically start playing?

I just recently figured out how to add a song to my MySpace Profile, but now I want to figure out how to have the music I've selected automatically start playing when someone views my profile. is that even possible with the MySpace Stand Alone Player?

Dave's Answer:

MySpace keeps tweaking how the music players work, actually, but it's still pretty easy to make the change you specify to your MySpace Standalone Player. First off, log in to your MySpace account and click on "Account Settings":

MySpace Home Menu

Scroll down a ways and you'll see "Music Settings":

MySpace Account Settings: Music

Click on "Change Settings" and you'll see:

MySpace Settings: Music Settings

Your settings are doubtless similar to mine, given your description, so all you need to do is uncheck the box "Disable My Player from Automatically Starting" and click "Save Settings". Now your music should begin playing automatically when people check out your profile.

And while you're checking out profiles, you're invited to check out my profile on MySpace and if you'd like more assistance, I have a lot of MySpace Help here too!

Comments

Many people consider it rude and/or extremely irritating when sites automatically force you to listen to them.

I usually have either music playing or the TV on (or both) when online and adding an unwanted third sound source is VERY annoying...

I want to drop the flash code for the players from several different band sites into a blog posting on my own site. They all have them set to automatically start playing upon viewing. Is there any change to the code I copy and paste that can prevent this? I don't want a cacophony of music to start playing every time someone views my site.

I've got a band ... and would like to place a music player on the band web site, like the one used on the band myspace pages The standalone player there is wonderful ... volume control, on-off to that users can turn on the music and easily select from several tracks that we choose.

If myspace can do it ... how do I do this for my own site?

Thanks!

I am trying to help a friend who has a band figure out how to send myspace messages to users with the standalone player code in them. You can post on your profile and on bulletins just fine with the code, but it does not show up when sent in a message, any way to fix this? Thanks for your help.

Posted by: chris at May 15, 2007 7:51 PM

Dear Dave,

One question we have about the standalone player...we can load 4 songs into the playlist..but it will only play one song and then stop. We have to click the other songs to play them.
Why won't the player just play the entire playlist..like a media player or flash player will? If it does where are the settings/controls to that function?
If that is not possible to play all four in sequence..where can we find the loop function to make the first song repeat until the visitor leaves the page?

Thanks for the help!

We are trying to promote some bands that we book by sending the stand alone myspace player in messages and for some reason they work fine in bulletins, and on myspace profiles, but not in myspace messages. Any way you can help us figure that out please?

Thank you!
