It would appear that my problems were fixed after a little experimenting, because i can use my PSP USB cable but only after following very specific instructions. FIRST put the PSP in usb cable mode, do not have the usb cable itself inside the psp or PC at the time. SECOND plug the end of the USB cable that gos into your PSP first, THEN the USB cable into the PC. OTHERS My psp USB cable is over sensitive, and the tiniest movement can reset the entire process. put all things on a hard flat surface and do not budge the psp once plugged into the pc. NOTE i am using a MAC OS X, but i used my windows laptop running XP on it in the same manner and it still worked. once i hard to hard reset (remove all power cords, batteries etc.) from the PC/laptop and try again after moving my psp once to many times connecting it. this hasnt happened again yet. ALSO MAKE SURE you do not have the psp charging off of the USB cable, or have it plugged into the charger. IT SHOULD IN NO WAY BE CHARGING PERIOD.

I have a windows Xp version 2002. When I turn on my PSP and go into USB mode. Windows detect my psp as removable disk but when i go into that i find that strange files appear on my PSP.. Neither i can copy from that nor i could store into that.. Please help me with this problem.....

My USB cable comes wif a charger, and when i plugged the cable to the computer while the PSP is in USB mode, the screen on the PSP shows "Plese Wait" but nothing is detected on the computer. The charging light is orange though... so wat should i do?

i just recently downloaded the Media Manager for the psp from the Playstation website. (By the way, i did it for free) so the dwnload worked but in order to turn the on software, I have to plug my psp. But my vista dosen't recognize it.

when I plug my psp(2000) into the pc, it tells me the device is trying to charge and using to much energy, so I should un plug and reset it. Someone told me to put it back on original system settings but that didn't help at all. Please help me.

Im trying to put some files on my PSP (PSP-2000) but my laptop (using Vista) doesnt read my PSP. And if it does, then it doesnt allow me to put files on the psp. It starts to copy the files and then all of a sudden stops. Any help would be much appriciated...thx.

I hade the problem USB Device not recognized on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and after a long search that leaded to a ZERO RESULT I deciced to try something else so what I did was while my psp is on flip it over detach the batery cover and remove the battery for 30 seconds insert the battery and flap and start up my ps and whala my windows found the device and installed it and now I can access my psp.

Just unplug your usb cable and plug it firmly back is as this can allso result in your device not been reqonised by your OS.

Allso check something else if your psp is not been recognized check if your psp detect any access points as mine detected it but couldnt assign any IP Addrsses.

ok so i figured it out for all of you windows vista/7 users!
1. open start menue and in search type view devices/printers
2. after opening devices and printers look for psp type a or b or c or whatever model u have.
3. click it then properties then hardware then update drivers! it worked for me hope this helps

Guys Rapt0r9 is right plug the usb cable in the psp first and go to usb connection then plug it in the computer I try it the first time didn't work but I shutdown my computer and turn off my psp then it worked.

USB Cable error occurs in case if you are using a fake USB cable.In some PC fake one works but if not then you have to buy a original one

As everyone else here, I have searched for two days trying to figure out how to get my pc to recognize my PSP. And I finally got it. I was using a cheap USB cord & then remembered I had a USB cord that I use to connect my digital camera to the computer. When I used that USB cord my PC automatically recognized the PSP. YAY!!! So simple, yet took me so long to figure out.

i used to help my friend's psp also have same problem. What i do is, to update the firmware first. U have to go to home > network update, then lets the PSP search and download the update. after the download process is successful, u have to install it. follow the instruction given. after it has been installed, reboot the psp and u are done. u can know see what inside ur memory card

HI, the 'plug the cord into psp, turn on usb connection and then connect to pc' worked for me as well on xp sp2.

Actually, all you need to do is go to system settings on the PSP and make sure Auto USB connect is turned on and make sure the PSP is turned on when you connect it to your pc.

i formatted my psp memory stick, and it still doesnt connect to my computer to where the box pops up... i am so angry because the format wiped out all my saved data on games (which i dont like so i dont care), my demos (which i do care about) and my pictures and stuff like that.

VUSE not recognizing the PSP ?
here the solution:
Step 1 : Plug in your PSP, when it pops up with the auto run press "View files and folders" or some thing to that effect to bring up the files in your Explorer
Step 2 : Create a new folder named "Video"
Step 3 : Restart Vuze. Your PSP should now be viewable in Vuze under devices as long as Devices is "ON"

*Dont forget to install the vuse transcoder plugin

I got my psp 3000 for my birthday last year and to this day i have not gotten it to work. iv'e been everywhere online, tried everything and nothings working.
