"Learning Unix for Mac OS X Panther" is out!

I received a lovely Hannukah present from O'Reilly and Associates this afternoon when FedEx delivered the first copy of Learning Unix for Mac OS X Panther. I can't stress how much it's improved over the previous editions, with both Brian Jepson and I substantially rewriting major sections, swapping out a chapter completely, and making it even more Mac-centric than it was. Yet it's still only 168 pages long, and costs about the same as two cups of latté and a scone at Starbucks.

Dave's Answer:
Trust me, I drink coffee and eat scones at Starbucks too, but the $15 you'll spend to get your own copy of this new edition will take you a lot further, both personally and professionally. And it's Atkins-diet compatible. Guaranteed!

My thanks to Nat Torkington for his usual great job helping keep this project on track and to Apple for a wicked cool update to what's already a great operating system. Panther rocks and if you're not running it yet, well, you're missing out. It's faster, more stable and has greatly improved the day-to-day experience of being a Mac user with better file dialog boxes, an improved Finder, and much more. And my favorite improvement: viewing JPEG icons with 'show info' selected now also shows the height and width of each image.
