Killzone 2 Walkthru Part I: Corinth River[This is the first of a series of Killzone 2 walkthrus we'll be publishing, all with videos and all written by gamer Alex Juel. If you have questions about the game, please don't hesitate to post them here and Alex will do his best to answer them. Stay tuned for subsequent parts, too!]
In the game you assume the role of Sergeant Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko, a battle-hardened veteran of the special forces unit Alpha Team, who are on a mission to eliminate the Helghast threat. During the invasion of Helghan, Sev's unit is deployed behind enemy lines to assist the main invasion force. Responsible for securing the enemy capital of Pyrrhus, Helghan's first true city, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are a more formidable enemy on their home planet than they were off-planet. Not only have they adjusted to Helghan's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed the power of the freakish lightning storms and can use against the ISA. A cold, barren, unforgiving world, Helghan provides a ready defense with thick, acidic air, dust clouds, and violent surgical lightning storms. Sev discovers his squad is not just fighting enemy forces - their fiercest opponent may be the planet itself. Now, ready to get started? Great! Things to know before you begin The entire game consists of large battles with many Helghast. To take the least amount of damage, you'll need to get used to taking cover, using L1 (melee attack), and sprinting for cover, using L3 (sprint). You can tell how much damage you've taken by the amount of blood that splatters onto your screen. Your health will recharge if you're not taking any damage. You'll also be able to tell from which direction the enemy is shooting you from by where the blood on the screen splatters. This will help you know where to run to take cover. Grenades are very easy to find throughout the game, so feel free to use them when you come across large groups of Helghast. You'll use assault rifles throughout the game. They don't have the best far-range accuracy, but if you pay attention to your crosshair and shoot your enemies while the reticle is red, you'll get really good at using them. Short burst shooting is also seems to be much more accurate then holding the fire button. When one of your teammates becomes incapacitated, you'll hear them yell for your help and there will be an arrow on your screen indicating their location. If you can, try to revive your fallen comrades as soon as possible because they really do help keep the Helghan from killing you. This walkthrough was created while playing the game on Trooper (default) difficulty... Killzone 2: Corinth RiverThe New Sun Wait for Garza to open the door and you'll meet Rico, who introduces you to the council scientist, Evelyn. To reload your weapon, press Square. You should get used to doing this after every encounter, because you'll find yourself reloading at the worst times if you don't. Enter the door and stick to the left and go to the back of this area and enter the small room. There will be one Helghast in here. Kill him and find the ammo rack, which will have an StA14 rifle on it. Pick it up, holding Square and look across the floodgate to the other side. There are two Helghast in the room which you can kill with the rifle or by shooting an explosive barrel in the room. Take everyone out and go all the way to the back and to the right where the machine gun is at. Grab it and shoot any Helghast down in the alley attacking your team. SYMBOL! To the right of the exit of this room, you'll see a chain link fence. The symbol is on the wall behind it. Verdran Overlook West Go up the stairs and grab the machine gun in the little room ahead of you. You'll have to attack enemy Helghast in the building across from you. Watch out, because several of them have missile launchers. The fastest way to do this is by destroying the building instead of killing the enemy. Shoot the two middle columns in the middle of each floor. Now follow Garza to the next area. There are a few Helghast here and one hiding all the way to the left. When you kill them all, Garza will run into the room and kneel next to a fallen soldier. He'll uncover a missile launcher which you'll need to pick up and shoot at the large warehouse door that has the Helghast logo on it. INTEL! Enter the warehouse and head to the back, where you'll find the intel case right beneath the staircase. There is a Helghast waiting to shoot you in the room ahead so prepare to shoot once the doors open.Kill this guy and stock up on ammo. Korovis Dam Once you exit the room, you'll find the enemy shooting your ISA teamates on the ground below. Attack these guys and take cover. Across the bridge a Helghast has a missile launcher so try to take him out from a distance. There is also an enemy on a machine gun in the small room shooting directly across the bridge. You can run up the bridge and take cover behind a barrel to kill him.Once you kill him, run to room before another Helghast mans the machine gun. Continue along the catwalk and kill the Helghast on the top level of the second floor. It's easier to kill them from outside the room before running in or they'll shoot you from above. Take them out and then kill the Helghast on the lower floor of the room. Go down the ladder and grab the missle launcher at the bottom. Two enemy tanks will enter through the gates in the back so you'll have to destroy them with the missile launcher. If you run out of missiles, there are more in the back where your teammates are taking cover. After you kill the tanks, Rico will instruct you to enter the tank. You'll find it in the back near your squad. Enter the tank using Circle and get ready to attack two more enemy tanks entering the area from the same place the previous tanks entered. When you hear Templar over your radio announce there is an artillery strike, exit your tank and take cover near your squad. The rockets will hit your tank, so you have to get out. Defend yourself against any Helghast on the ground until the level ends. Stay tuned for more walkthrus of Killzone 2 as we publish them!
