Is Santa Claus real?

The classic "Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus" editorial answers this question as well now as it did way back when.

"I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says "If you see it in The Sun it's so.

Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?"

There is definitely a Santa Claus. I saw him when I was a kid. He was in our living room putting presents under the tree.

Well, it turns out that was just our neighbor doing a favor for my parents. But it caused me to believe in Santa Claus much longer than anyone else I knew. After all, I had seen him. And because of that, I had plenty of opportunities to look like a fool arguing with the other kids that Santa was real.

But I suppose it was a great thing for my parents to have set that up.

Many years ago I had tracked down Santa to Grandfather Frost in Russia. In some parts of Russia the snow is so deep that sleighs were parked on the roofs of houses so they wouldn't sink into the snow. A staircase was built alongside the chimney which melted the snow and allowed entrance to the house. The opening to the fireplace was on the outside of the house with a metal door. Stones on the inside of the house radiated heat, perfect for warming their thigh high stockings while the family slept.

So Santa Claus, dressed in the red and white of Saint Nicholas, rode his sleigh to the roof, came down the chimney and left gifts for the children in their stockings hung on the fireplace. More truth than fiction.

i think santa is real and if you don't belive in him he is going to give you coals for christmas!!

I KNOW Santa is real because on christmas eve my mom & dad were sopposedly having a quick glass of wine but I saw the bags filled with toys near the stockings

Fr:Santa" labels and then compare the handwriting of the labels. well, first of all i'm a pre-teen and i stll belive in him. my friends say he's not and some of them say they believe sorta. well, i believe! anyway at school a little student i had to work with to do a activitie for school said his sister saw Santa Claus and Rudolph!!!!!!!!!. I believe too because reseacrhers saw a piece of his sleigh in a desert!!! And on Google Video there was a video on christmas, that you see a light, sparkly comet from a chimney to the tree, and up the chimney and back in 5 seconds! Even though lots of novels, and movies say he's not real, still not he's not real to them because they didn't see him or believe in him. So, if you believe in him he'll come!!!!!!!!! And, my whole family still believes in him too. So get's som Eggnog or mostly milk and some cute, tasty cookies, carrots leave it out on a plate, and wait the next day to see that they've been munched, and drinked from!!!!!!!!! When I was 5 I heard the stuffed santa go off.It was a motion activator.so when someone goes near it it sings santa clause is coming to town.So I went into the living room there he was.standing there in front of the intertainment center looking at me and my familys pictures.I went back to bed.He left a bell from his sleigh.I think if you believe you can hear the bell.But only me and my sisters could here it.My mom and dad didnt hear it.They dont believe.

My parents believe in Santa! When I was little, I asked them and they said it was more real then anything else in the world. My dad has REALLY bad handwriting and Santa doesn't. My mom is always merry on Christmas morning so obviously, she couldn't have snuck downstairs and put presents under our tree. Trust me, if my mom wakes up in the night, she is REALLY crabby! My dad couldn't have done it either because he is a really hard sleeper! Not even a ginormous orchestra could wake him up! That's why he is always late for work in the morning.

My other friend set up a video camera by her Christmas tree and either Santa was there, or it was her Uncle Ralph in a red Santa suit who slid down the chimney easily. I doubt that. She brought the tape into school and now everyone in my class believes in Santa Clause.

I am not sure. I am 12 and my friend and I believe but sometimes its a very good question. I have snooped around the house while my parents were gone and the American Girl Doll I want is no where. I did find presents but they all say To: Katie from: Ma and Pa. If there are any grownups out there and you tell you kids he isn't real he's not and your kids shoudn't expect anything from him. But it isn't just about him. It's the "Magic" of Christmas that is real.

See, the way it works is, it will show you what you want to see. If you really, REALLY want to believe in my best friend, by big brother, Santa Clause, as he has become to be known as; you will know without a shadow of a doubt, that he is real.

But it works the other way too.

If you are looking for reasons NOT to believe, The "Magic" works that way too. Those that want to compare handwriting, or compare with friends, you will see what you want to see. If you feel he isn't real and want proof, you will find it. But even more special... those that KNOW and are not influenced by non-believers, you will feel the spirit of Christmas in your hearts.

The following is my theory:
Santa Claus is real. If your parents don't believe in him, for their "punishment" they have to buy all your gifts. if they do believe, Santa comes. The reason why it only takes one day is because Santa uses time zones. world it is a Santa doesn't stop at the houses where they don't celebrate things like Christmas. So that takes off alot of houses so it saves Santa some time.

Hello People! I was just reading this. I am now 13 and do not believe in santa and i found out at the age of 12. I wanna give advice to the parents. Just tell you kids the truth if they ask ( well if they are like olda than 10). They are better off knowing. Believe me. No one ever told my mom until she was 15. So picture this the 15 year old girl walking around the school agruing with who ever denied his exsistence. Imagin how many people made fun of her! I do believe in Santa because for the past 2 years I have stayed up all night and look out my door and see santas sleigh flying in the air. then i try staying up all night and fall asleep. dont think that thats real? then in 2005 we were opening presents and heard bangs on the roof. we went out the front and Santa was on our roof. and it was not my family, coz they were right next to me. my dad ran around the corner and went up the ladder and rugby tackled hime. he dissapeard and we only had his suit left. But, I do have a story.

Two years ago (I'm 12 now, I was 10 then) it was Christmas night, my dad just told me good night. During the night, I heard movements coming from downstairs. I wasn't sure if Dad was in bed yet, but here's some more:
Years before that, I ended up waking up at 2 o'clock in the morning. Stayed up 'till quarter to seven, when we went downstairs to open the presents. My mom and dad were in the bed the whole time. And my brother didn't go to bed 'till midnight. (becuase he was so excited)
And even years before that, I heard the "riendeer" on the roof, and my brother heard slay bells. (of course, I was only 5 then, but)
And plus, my mom is REALLY cranky when she gets up in the morning, and she is a very heavy sleeper.
But not my dad. He is a very light sleeper. Whenever I would get up in the middle of the night, he would always, ALWAYS, hear me. So personally, I don't know.

Okay, Listen. I'm eighteen years old and I am writing a research paper on Santa Clause for my English 101 Class. I'm going to put a link on here for ya'll once I finish writing my paper. But all in all, what I've found is real. Did you know that the North American Ari Defense Command actually Tracks Santa Clause every Christmas Eve with sattellites? and There are pictures of him, and hoofprints and all kinds of things.

So if you still believe it doesn't matter how old you are. If you don't believe, then that is your own personal choice, a lot like believing in God. You know there are many people who don't believe in God, or who stop believing in him when a loved-one dies, but that doesn't mean he isn't real.

And a side note for all you 10-14 year olds on here making fun of people because they actually believe in Santa? You have no right to tell people what they should and should not believe in. or that once you pass a certain age you must stop believing. Santa Clause is both omnipresent and omniscient (he is everywhere, knows everything) maybe he doesn't bring you presents because you bash him online and everywhere else.

hi, i'm from malaysia and i stumbled upon this blog while viewing a profile of a friend of mine...there are a few things i realized while reading this blog...

one of it is that americans really believe and debate a lot about santa claus just like they do to jesus. i'm not saying that i don't believe in him...it's just that i want to believe in him but i can't. i've always known 'bout the non-existence of santa claus ever since i was born due to all those movies and my parents have always told me not to believe those kind of stuff or movies. i'm a christian and i celebrate christmas every year. but here, no one has ever discussed about the existence of santa claus, only the existence of god. although i don't really believe in santa, i've never recieved coal for christmas. i've even seen my parents put christmas presents under the tree--and it was in the afternoon.

oh, and another thing i realised.... americans believe so much in santa that it feels as if they're tracking or researching some kind of paranormal activity....

i'm not saying i hate any of you santa believers, i'm just voicing out how i feel about this. nevertheless, i really, really hope santa is real so he can bring lots of joy and happiness to the world....

hey everyone, i know that parents dress up as santa clause and put the presents uner the tree. I hate to say it but hes not real. Last year when my dad was fighting in Iraq i had to watch my two little brothers while my mom went to the store. When she returned she showed us the bag and it had 3 prestents in it. One for me and my two brothers. Then on chritmas eve i looked in my dads old office in the den and saw a bunch of presents that said ti sarah , to will, to liam, and at that point i knew santa wasnt real. Ok, this is the second time that I have written in here. I have so many letters that say that Santa Clause isn't real but the truth is HE IS REAL! he is the realist person! don't believe the people that say" your parents totally put those presents under the tree." Okay, listen up. I'm tired of this. If you believe in him, you get presents. If you don't, then you don't get presents. Is that so hard? If your parents don't believe in him, you pay the price. Yeah, if they don't believe in him, then of course they're putting presents under the tree at night! But if they believe, then it's good old Saint Nick. I know for a fact that he's real because last Christmas, I asked my mom. I'm old enough that if there was no Santa Claus, she'd tell me. Guess what her answer was? Bingo. Real. I am 12 years old and I say that Santa Claus is real! First of all, One year I saw snowy footprints from boots next to my christmas tree. Then, last year, my family was a little short on money and my parents could not afford great presents since my Dad quit his job. I really wanted a Nintendo DS and that's about $140. And on Christmas day, that was under my tree along with an electric gutair, a karaoke machine, and more. How was this possible? So, I believe in Santa and you should, too!!!

I really truly want to believe in him, but the truth is i can't remember a time when i actually did. I'm serious, and it really sucks :( I guess it is just common sense, i mean, a fat old man couldn't fit down a chimney and what if somebody doesn't have one? And technically it's the same thing as breaking an entry, wouldn't Santa be afraid someone would call the police? And flying reindeer? i don't know it just seems impossible. And each of the reindeer would have to carry like 10,000 pounds of presents on their backs, and Santa would have to be going faster than the speed of light to get to every home, so no one could actually see him. Oh well, maybe it really is all magic and that's how he does it. I don't think Santa is real, like in this world, but he is real, and does survive, in the hearts of those who truly believe. here is the proff:
1.i stayed up all night twice but every time i fell asleep at 3:30 .
2.half my family is lactose and tolerient(i cant spell) so who drinks the milk my cat?
3.i set up a camera and veiwed itt the next morning,it was turned off at 2:59 am 2 years in a row odd..

now the proof he isnt:
1when i was 8 i saw the exact same boxes santa left in my moms room in a package.
2.i anelized the writing and 1 year it was the same and 1 year it was not.
3.i was just going to sleep when my mom opened my door.i acted like i was asleep.

I am sorry to say, but santa is not real. My reason for not believing is because when i was 13 years old, i found presents in my parents closet. Many of the gifts had tags on them that read.."FROM: SANTA". On Christmas morning i foung those exact presents, saying.."FROM: SANTA"

Seeing is not believing, take it from me. Santa Claus may not seem real, but he must be. I have a plan to prove my theory. You know how people leave carrots for reindeer? I dont know if Santa is real because I saw a list that my Mom made of what Sanata was going to get me. But she said "I just wanted to make sure I didn't get you the same thing" but I am 10 years of age so I'm not really sure.

Santa Clause is not real. I know this because on Christmas Eve I opened my bedrooom door twice. The first time I did, all I saw was a flash light beam going around my living room, and that was at like 11:15. Then the second time I opened it my mom was standing there looking at the tree and then I tried to close the door, but I didn't, because I thought it might not be real, but then she saw me and I got busted, so there's some real proof for you right there in print. For more proof, my friend's mom had gotten my friend's brother something for Christmas and it was Guitar Hero III. Yes indeed, there is a real santa clause. It happen to me and my twin sister when we were a kid, santa is not giving us a gift or present but he is just with his reinders and say HO-HO-HO-HO while leaving to that place. As i know, and based on our experience, we never write down the gifts we like, as we lived in a poor family, all i could ask is that to have at least a happy family. living together with full of happiness. We never jot down any gifts that we wanted since we don't believe in santa. My mother never tell us that there is a real santa claus because my mother never believes in it.

You don't need someone to tell you that santa claus is giving gift every christmas day but surely showing santa himself will make you feel at ease and will tell yourself i believe that there is santa.
