This is really weird: when I check my inbox on MySpace, it tells me that I have three messages, but it doesn’t show them to me. I see listing 1-3 of 3, but it’s blank. What’s up with that, Dave?
I see this too when I log in to my own MySpace account, though I only seem to have two cloaked messages in my inbox:
I’ve been a bit puzzled by this for a while, but now I know what’s going on. The answer is supplied by “Tom” in a bulletin sent out on 24 October:
“Are you one of the people whose maibox count is messed up? your mail page shows something like “1 of 3″ messages and you don’t see messages?
“It’s because the user who sent you the mail has deleted their profile, or because they were a spammer that we blocked and deleted. you should now be able to delete the messages from deleted users and fix your mail counts. try it out!”
So now you know. You should be able to delete these invisible or bogus messages from your inbox now, and hopefully that bug won’t rear its head again.
While you’re here, I encourage you to check out all the MySpace Help I have here on this blog, and you can also become my friend by checking out my MySpace profile.
