How do I move a video in iTunes from "TV Shows" to "Movies"?

I followed along on your article yesterday about how to add cover art to a video I have in my Apple iTunes library, but what I don't see how to do is to move a video from the "TV Shows" category to the "Movies" category: for some reason a few of my movies are misfiled and I can't drag and drop them.

Dave's Answer:

I'm glad that you found the earlier article How to add Artwork to your iTunes Movies useful. Turns out that you were just about exactly where you needed to be to also recategorize your videos from TV Show to Movie when you were in the "Get Info" window.

You'll recall that when you were adding Artwork, there were a bunch of different tabs along the top of that window, namely: Summary, Info, Video, Sorting, Options, Lyrics and Artwork. The categorization you seek is in the "Video" tab.

To get there you need to Ctrl-Click on the movie in iTunes:

Apple iTunes: Get Info pop-up contextual menu

Choose "Get Info" as you did last time, but this time, click on the "Video" tab, rather than the "Artwork" tab. Right on top is the pop-up menu you want, labeled "Video Kind":

Apple iTunes: Get Info: Video: Kind: Movie

Instead of "TV Show", simply choose "Movie" and you're done. Click "OK".

You can simply do this one at a time for all the videos you need to move over. And, as you can see, this also is how you categorize music videos too, if you want to be really neat and tidy.

Dave, Found this via a Google search and it was exactly the answer I needed! I was trying to move something I encoded via VisualHub that got dumped into movies, into TV Shows. I kept overlooking this simple drop down box - thank you!

Great info. FYI, in iTunes 10 (released Sept. 1, 2010) they move the "Video kind" option out of the "Video" tab, and into the "Options" tab.

It's now called "Media Kind" with the added selections of 'Podcast' and 'iTunes U'.

Starbucks coffee cup I do have a lot to say, and questions of my own for that matter, but first I'd like to say thank you, Dave, for all your helpful information by buying you a cup of coffee!

I do have a comment, now that you mention it!
