How do I identify EXIF camera settings in iPhoto? Now that I am importing photographs into iPhoto taken by different members of my family, I'd like to be able to see which camera (e.g., which photographer) was responsible for a given picture. I believe that information is stored in the "exif" information, but how do I view that in iPhoto on my Mac? You're exactly right that one of the cool features of digital photography is that just about every digital camera identifies not just itself but saves all the settings (including date and time) as part of the "extended information" (EXIF) of a photo file. Quite useful, and particularly interesting when you have a number of different photographers who use different gear and different settings. The problem is, it's not so easy to figure out how to get to that information in iPhoto because iPhoto is more focused on location, date, people in the photo, and so on. In fact, I really had to stumble around looking at information the first time I tried to dig into the EXIF information in my own iPhoto library... To start out, when you are looking at a photograph and put the cursor over it, a small "i" pops up: When you select a photo, information also shows up on the lower left side of the main iPhoto window: ![]() That's clearly some of the EXIF info -- date and time -- but it's not what we seek. Click on the "i" for information and you get: ![]() Nope, that's the geolocation info: if your camera can geotag your pictures as you go, that'd be another bit of EXIF information showing up, but it's still not the camera. So where to go from here? Turns out that the Photos menu has the answer: ![]() Choose that and the information shown just goes on and on... ![]() Who knew there was so much information included in each photograph? :-)

Hello Dave, great explications, very clear as usual! Koen from Belgium/Europe Posted by: Koen at August 6, 2009 12:33 AMVery interesting idea, Koen.
