How can I find an email address for Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas?

I'm the Black Eyed Peas biggest fan and love all their work. I'd love to send them some email and tell them how great their songs are: how can I find an email address for the band or of Fergie, their amazing singer?

Dave's Answer:

Well, if we were in Hollywood I imagine you'd be asking for a map of the stars' homes, so perhaps this is the digital equivalent! Let's be candid for a minute, though. Most high profile celebrities like Stacy Ferguson of BEP are likely completely overwhelmed with fan messages, letters, emails, and such. In fact, she most likely has a publicist and for sure the Black Eyed Peas have a company that manges their publicity and fan interaction.

I'm not discouraging you from sending your message, but understand that just as celebrity twitter accounts are most likely not actually run by the celebrity in question, any email you might get from a public fan channel to a really popular band is more likely to actually be from their publicity team.

Having said that, the first place I'd go to learn more about a band or musician is MySpace. Believe it or not, it's still the premier destination for connecting with your favorite entertainers, though Facebook is coming on strong. A quick search reveals that they can be found at myspace.com/blackeyedpeas and on that page you can find a "send a message" link. This, however, is definitely going to get to the publicist, not to Fergie herself.

black eyed peas fergieSo let's dig a little further. Doing a Google search on "Stacy Ferguson Black Eyed Peas" produces a surprisingly slim 79,000 matches. Right off the bat you'll learn that her real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson and she was born March 27, 1975. But you probably know that, don't you?

More interestingly, one of the other results points to http://fergie.blackeyedpeas.com/ which is billed as the "official fan page for Fergie". Just a little bit more digging and you'll find that there's actually a discussion forum for Fergie fans on the site too, at http://www.blackeyedpeas.com/community/forum/780006

Still, what about that email address? Let's go back to Google and add "email address" to the search and see if we get any joy... Nope. As I said, this kind of thing can be quite difficult to track down. It does, however, reveal the official Fergie fan site: fergievip.com. Still, no email address.

One more place to check: Twitter. To do that, you'll need a Twitter account, then just search people for "fergie" and, yes! it appears she's here, as @fergieofficial. Problem is, her last update was almost seven weeks ago, so while she has an account neither she nor her publicist are doing much with it, so your chance of interacting with her directly are very slim.

And so goes the search for celebrity email addresses. By the very nature of celebrity, most of these famous folk are trying to NOT have their email address in the public eye, just as they don't really want you driving by and camping out on their front lawn.

So in the end, we didn't find Stacy Ferguson's email address. But that's probably a good thing, actually...
