How do I create my own Google Profile?I've read about "Google Profiles" and am definitely interested in figuring out how to set up my own profile. I'm still not entirely sure why I'd bother, but can you at least tell me where I'd set one up within the Google empire? I'm sure that there are a number of ways you can set up your Google Profile, but the path I have explored is through Google Reader. (Google Reader, by the way, is a very nice RSS reader and what I use to keep on top of the over 100 different RSS feeds I track. And you can easily subscribe to AskDaveTaylor via Google Reader too. Just click here to begin!) Within Google Reader, click on Settings in the top right. Now you'll see a variety of tabbed options: ![]() Click on the Friends tab, and you'll see something like: ![]() Click on "Edit my profile" in the little white box, and: ![]() Now you can enter your name, occupation, location, and commentary. Most interestingly, you can add a link to your blog or profile. Better yet, you can add two or three and have yet another path for visitors to wind their way from the public web to your own site or sites. As to where people would actually see your Google profile, that's subtle: it's a pop-up window that appears within Google apps when your name or address is shown. For example, in Gmail, it'd be the pop-up window associated with a recipient. (Since no-one seems to actually have set up a profile yet, however, I can't demonstrate it as of yet. I'll try to add a picture in a few weeks as this gets a bit more popular).

Posted by: farid at January 22, 2008 6:41 AMyou are the best dave! i looked up something else and that worked to. thanks Posted by: blake at March 4, 2008 7:53 PMwere do i go to myake a google profile Posted by: babyfayce_katie_skadoske18@yahoo.com at June 7, 2008 11:40 AMDave, Google is hiding most of the links that were around in the last year because they are going to do something big with Google Reader and shared items. Hence they removed the friend tab on Reader settings. So, you either need to go to someone elses profile while signed into Google and the link will be in the right hand top links behind your Gmail address, as "my profile" or in Reader go to your "shared items" and then that will give you the "at this webpage" link to your shared items. From there you can find you Google profile, create one or edit the existing. One word of warning, Google only allows you to create one and your Gmail address is tied to it and public to your sharing friends. Hence, the Gmail address you are logged into when you create your profile will be tied to that profile. And Google's social network, Googling Social is not going to become a sewer like Digg, so only one profile per user please. Hope this helps all and Cheers! = Chris Lang Posted by: Chris Lang at September 16, 2008 1:59 AMsystem changed. you won't get this options now on g reader. thanks Best Wishes, no friends tab dave Hi every body ..................Wall come to personal profile..........
