How do I sell my unused domain names?I have over 100 domain names registered. Most of them are in my industry, some are not. Some get a lot of inquiries, some do not. How do I begin in the world of "domaineering"? I'd like to use the more popular domain names and create traffic for other topics... like credit cards, mortgages, male enhancement, etc. Thanks Dave! There are a bunch of sites where people try to buy and sell domain names, but in my experience, the best bet is to have a modest "for sale" graphic on the page that the domain serves up, but actually have some content of some sort, even just 2-3 paragraphs. Then the domain has SOME "existence" on the net, and has much greater value than if it's just a word. Make sense? This helps the buyer too because hopefully the one page you have hosted on the domain is no longer in the sandbox and when the domain transfers and goes through the Google hiccup (Google checks domain name record change dates as one of its many variables for calculating search engine results placement) it'll come out in a few days or weeks, rather than a few months. Two of the best sites I recommend for people interested in buying or selling domain names are AfterNIC and Great Domains. Believe it or not, a lot of people also sell domain names on eBay. Just use the "reserve" feature to specify a minimum winning bid, but start bidding really low and see what happens. Be realistic, though. Most domains sell in the range of a few hundred or lower, though a very small few of them can sell for astronomical numbers. Try this link to see some of the almost 4,000 domain names for sale on eBay as I write this answer: Home / Buy / Computers & Networking / Other Hardware & Services / Domain Names When you do get a buyer lined up, I do strongly encourage you to use the services of Escrow.com to ensure that neither party gets ripped off. Once you change the ownership of a domain record, there's no going back... Hope that helps you out!

Hi Dave, Hate to tell you this, Fawzi, but I don't think that domain has much if any value at all. It's not a dictionary word, it's not an English phrase, it's not a common misspelling of a popular site name, it's not a TV show or movie title. I think you'd be lucky to see $100 for it, personally. Good luck to you, though! Posted by: Dave Taylor at October 26, 2009 10:54 AMOk! that's clear lol!! waytomillions.com see ya I have these domain names...could you plz tell me how much the domain names will sell for? WORLDLUXURYCARS.NET Send me details about Domain online marketing, pls. Posted by: Rick at December 5, 2009 3:37 PMdear Hi Guys, I would like to sell two of my domain names and I write here to get people offers idea about them. The domain names are; www.ezeestore.com EzeeStore.com is highly effective and attractive for online products sellers for shopkeepers and for import & export companies. www.pay2settle.com This domain is very very much effective and internet traffic-oriented for Real Estate and Financial Service Providers, plus for Travel and Tour Industries. Write me back if you are interested in buying the above mentioned domain names. And I would like to know Dave, what you have to say about their minimum prices? Thanks a lot for your consideration. Posted by: Greece at January 13, 2010 6:33 AMI have to say that none of the domains people have posted about recently here, neither itsolutionshouse.com, ezeestore.com nor pay2settle.com, have much of any value in the marketplace. They're long, awkward, graft together words that don't really make sense together and have misspellings (e.g. "easystore.com" or "ezstore.com" might be better, but "ezee"? Not so much). Sorry. Posted by: Dave Taylor at January 13, 2010 6:50 AMGood Afternoon Dave, Thanks for your reply about the market. ezeestore.com or pay2settle.com are not much, but I think might have some chances of hitting the interested individual, as because there is shortage of dictionary word on net. Anyhow thanks for your kind consideration. Best of luck in your future. What is your opinion of these two that I own that are auto (Nissan) related: www.350z.net Thank You! Posted by: Samir at January 14, 2010 1:21 PMhi, Thank you very much Dave! Reading your blog I have found many answers regarding selling domains. Please keep on helping newbies like me… Posted by: Avraam at January 24, 2010 11:51 AMGuys, come on, stop asking Dave those silly questions )) Posted by: Guys, come on! at February 15, 2010 11:36 AMDear Dave, I purchased several domain names [to resell, they are unused]on Godaddy, and want to know if I can sell them on another site, such as Flippa or Sedo? If so, how do I go about doing that? I have several names that are great for the solar energy and green energy industry - as well as others. Thank you in advance for your response. Hey Dave, Great blog you have here. Right now I'm very frustrated. Sedo has rejected 40 of my domains in the past month. All the domains I put on the GODaddy never attract any attention. I buy many domains based on their market popularity and keyword searches. I know I must be patient, but what will it take to make a sell? I only sold one domain which was because another wanted it, and not for its value. I have many domains targeting jobs, I recently picked up graduateplusloans.net, ticketdeals.org, sportingtickets.us, multidimensional.us, grantwritingjobs.com, loanjobs.net, petjobs.net, fitnesstrainerjobs.net, animationprograms.us and many others. I have 50 domains have many targeting art like drippainting.com, drippaintings.com, sfmuseums.net and sfmuseums.org, lamuseum.net, NYCmuseum.org and nymuseum.org. Furthermore, I have niagrafallsny.org. Mostly all my domains were generated on their keyword and name popularity. Should I consider hosting these domains? I have a cash park account at GoDaddy, but park my domains at Sedo. Sedo doesn't allow any parked domains to be advertised or manipulated. How can you increase the value a domain if you can't host or advertise it? Sedo has rejected many good dains, only to accept ones that have no traffic and worth. I also have gogps.net, selfphoto.net, mediainfluence.net, cakedb.com, journalismphoto.com and other domains too. Any ideas how I can sell any of my 300+ domains? I put them on Moniker\Snap Names. I'm hoping I can attract se buyers. I won a domain that has major searches - Venezia-abc.com. I was unable to sell it in the GoDaddy auction on two occassions, whereas I battled a dozen bidders in winning this domain. Many times I see domains going for more than they're worth on estibot and websiteoutlook. I am interested in what it will take to make a sell now then to wait. I wouldn't want to let these domains expire. Thanks in advance. Ps - Sedo suggests setting prices using their price suggestions. Englandnew.com is determined as a domain worth more than $10k. I'm not sire what to believe. I have a blog that has more articles than total traffic. Magicwriter.blogspot.com. I'm also having trouble with building traffic there, as well. Thanks. Posted by: Jason at March 17, 2010 8:29 PMDave, I forgot to ask you about how I can write content on a parked page. Would I need to subscribe to a hosting plan? How do some people buy domains and sell them without traffic? How does Sedo determine what is quality versus what lacks quality? I recently viewed hdmicables.com go for $12,000 at GoDaddy, while websiteoutlook had it vaued as $150. Estibot valued it at $165k. Autoinsurance.com recently sold for 7 figures but is only worth $2007.50 and has 915 page views. Estibot has it valued at $20 million. Some other collectors told me that I need to Who can I trust to appraise my domains, especially when there many domain appraisal sites are vastly different? Will an appraisal help a domain attract attention? Thanks again for your help. Posted by: Jason at March 17, 2010 8:58 PMHey Dave, These are the stats from a domain which I won at an auction. Since then, I haven't been able to entertain any offers for it. Any suggestions on how I can sell this domain? It receives around 600 unique visits per month. At one time, it was generating 700+ visitors per day. This domain was once a web site before. Thanks in advance. Venezia-abc.com
Hi Dave. Love your blog, but am confused about your "terms." Do they mean that by asking you someting about the value of one of my my webstites that you get some form of ownership of it? Moreover, where do I find the exact terms you refer to? Thank you Posted by: gerry at April 3, 2010 2:28 PMHey there! Can anyone please tell me how and where can I sell any of the domains listed on www.Master.tel, or www.DomainMenu.tel? Thanks! One simple and golden rule to remember when registering domains is to think of your targeted Business, the business has the capital B. And buyers are not aliens they want value for their money. Put yourself in your customer shoes and imagine why you would want that domain? why would you buy it for $100 or $1000 when you could register such domain for $10? How much money you can get out of it? Remember all of the domain buyers want to make money from domains either by developing it into website or reselling it for money. Posted by: John at June 3, 2011 6:15 PMi want to sell this domain .plz tell me how much i get and where to sell i want to sell it fast... Posted by: Rajendra at June 23, 2011 10:09 AMThe problem is so many people are just buying useless, spammy domain names that often mean nothing, in the hope of making thousands back on them. I've seen loads that have just been purchased purely on the basis to sell, and hold no history, weight or presence. Even if a domain is years old, has never been flagged for violating Google's T&C's, it still doesn't justify a massive price. Unless it is a dictionary word or phrase its tough to get a decent price or even sell a domain. Like Dave said, always becareful of branded domains, as these can easily be seized by the company. I read a story about someone who purchased a Google related name not long ago, and it resulted in the person having to tranfer the domain to Google for free.
