How do I make someone a Digg friend?A few pals have told me that they've "friended" me on the bookmarking site Digg, but I have no idea what they're talking about. Since they've listed me as a friend, I figure I should list them as my friends too, but I don't know how to do it. Dave? Can you help me out? Like so many different sites, popular bookmarking and site sharing service Digg has a "friends" capability, a la MySpace. Rumor in the search engine marketing (SEM) community is that a "digg" from someone with lots of Digg friends is worth more than digg from someone unbefriended (is that a word?) I can't say whether that's true, but heck, if you'd like, let's be Digg friends! Yes, you can create a simple URL that you can send your friends so that -- if they're already registered on Digg -- they can easily "friend" you. It's built thusly: http://digg.com/invitefrom/yourlogin
My link above, for example, is http://digg.com/invitefrom/d1taylor. You're asking about the other side of this equation, however, how you can add others as Digg friends, and that's done by logging in to your Digg account, then clicking on "Profile" in the top navbar: ![]() Now you'll want to click on "Friends" on the set of tabs that appear with your profile: ![]() You'll probably have a blank space and, on the right side, the following: ![]() You can just "add friends", but probably your best bet is to click on "See Who Befriended You" so you can add your pals as, well, pals: ![]() Click the little green "add friend" below each user's icon and within just a few seconds you'll be able to rest and relax, knowing that your pals know you're their Digg friend too. There. Doesn't that feel better? :-) Oh, you should see something like this for each friend you add: ![]() but if you do too many at one time, you'll trigger a "flood" antispam system and might instead see this warning: ![]() Don't panic. You can still be friends with everyone. Just slow down a wee bit. :-) Note that you can also search for friends by using their registration information in Digg itself. Click on "Add Friend" in the earlier list of choices and you can search: ![]() Here I'm looking for my friend Dan Gray, who coincidentally was the first person to email me and remind me that he'd befriended me on Digg and could I return the favor. :-) Hope that helps you get more out of Digg and, again, if you'd like, you're welcome to befriend me on Digg.
