How do I enable notification sounds in Microsoft Entourage?

For some reason the sound notifications in Entourage have switched themselves off. I was having problems with Pocketmac Pro which I have decided to give up on....the developers in an effort to get it working had me reboot my Powerbook holding down the C key and repairing from the install disk. It didn't help and the sounds in Entourage have not worked since?

Dave's Answer:

That's a curious problem. My first thought is: have you somehow ended up muting your entire Mac, or are you hearing audio from other applications?

You can check your sound settings by going to Apple --> System Preferences --> Sound, where you'll see this:

Mac OS X: System Preferences: Sound

Note both the bottom volume slider and the mute checkbox to ensure they're set properly.

The other possibility is that you've somehow deselected all the Entourage audio notification sounds. You can check that possibility by going into Entourage and selecting Entourage --> Preferences --> Notification:

Microsoft Entourage: Sound Notification Preferences

Those should cover the main reasons you'd no longer have any notification.

Hope that gets you back up and running!

I have had the same problem since I downloaded an Office:mac 2004 update. Other apps like Yahoo IM still produce sounds but Entourage remains mute.

I have something to say, now that you mention it, but ...
Starbucks coffee cup I do have a lot to say, and questions of my own for that matter, but first I'd like to say thank you for all your efforts on this Web site by buying you a cup of coffee!

I do have a comment, now that you mention it!
