How do I display members on a MySpace Groups profile?

I feel like a loser asking u this but its driving me crazy.. i have just opened up a MySpace group for the local club in my area and i cant work out how u can show ur members on the home page.. all i have is a blank box and then a link to "view more members..." if u could help it would mean the world to me.. thank you

Dave's Answer:

No reason to feel like a loser asking a question, and, frankly, anything to do with MySpace is always partially affected by the reality that the MySpace system itself is held together by bailing wire and bubblegum, so as you'll see, one possible answer to this question is "because something's busted on their end."

Nonetheless, the main tweak you can make to affect whether your group members show up on the group profile page in MySpace is the "Hidden Group" setting.

First things first, however. Click on "Groups" on the menu bar, then click on the link for "My Groups" on the left side. Now you can click into your group as moderator and you'll see a ton of different configuration options (this image is from creating a group, but you can safely ignore that. When you edit your group you'll see it's all exactly the same):

MySpace Group Profile Information

You can see the field I'm talking about in that pic. Click on the "Help" next to the Hidden Group setting and all is explained: "Choose "Yes" if you want your group closed to public viewing. Your members must be invited before they can see your group. Choose "No" if you want your group open to public viewing."

Change that setting to "No" and you should be good to go.

If not, well, then maybe you have a number of members who no longer have MySpace accounts, so it's messing up their display code? Try purging your list of members who aren't part of MySpace any more. Or, maybe it's just that something's gone wonky on the MySpace end, in which case you might just have to live with it as their tech support team seems to be permanently out to lunch.

In any case, I hope that helps you out with this problem!

Greetings Dave,

Since I see that I am not the only one out here in "MySpace confusion" land, I resign all hesitation to ask you a question in fear of the interpretation of ignorance on my part regarding the matter.

If you would be so kind, as the gentleman I know you are, please answer the following.....

How do I list the Groups I am associated with through MySpace on my page? --- e.g; where you would list your basic info such as Books, Music, Heros, etc. I have seen this on others' profiles but can't find the availability to edit it on my EDIT PROFILE page.

I thank you in advance for your time & greatly look forward to receiving a response from you at your first available convenience.

All the best for a happy & safe Holiday Season!

Respectfully yours,

D. P. Gray III

D. P. Gray III,

Look in "Account Settings".

Click "Profile Settings"

Check the box that says "Display Groups I belong to."

Move on with your life ... jk ... ^_^

Hey, I tried that tweak to display your Group Members, but mine do not show up.

Do you know of any other tweaks???

Hi Dave :)
I have that same problem with the non-displaying group members (you can see the group in my URL field). I wonder if it is a general MySpace problem or if something with my layout code is wrong?

Thanks in advance,
Rebecca from Germany

Dave,
Your info is EXCELLENT!!! Thank you. I can always find what I'm looking for here. Myspace's "help" is lame.

In answering the person at the very top you did not answer the right question. You explained how to make a group private or public the question asked was how do we display the members we have on our main group page. I clarify this because I have the same question as that person does. So if you could answer that I would soooo appreciate it.
thank you for your time,
bobbie

Hi Dave, I have the same question referring to being able to actually see the pictures of my members without having to click "view members," also, I would like to know how to make the group site clear so that I can see the background image that I put in. I can see the background if I first refresh the page, but all I get after the page loads is the white and blue myspace group colors. I want a clear page to see my background. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Dave, I'm having the same problem in myspace groups as I can't see my friends on the page. I can only see them when I click the link to view all members. I hope you can help.

Thanks, Joe

This is a weird question but I was wondering how long it takes for group moderator to be changed? I didn't want to be moderator of my group anymore so I sent an email for someone else to be it.How long will it take for that change to be made?

Thanks

THE CORRECT AND CLARIFIED WAY TO SHOW YOUR GROUPS ON YOUR OWN PROFILE:

Go to Edit Profile.

Go to Account Settings

Go to Miscellaneous

Check Show Groups I belong To

In order for your group members to show up on the main group page, you have to wait for 7 days. After 7 days they will just magically appear. :)
