How do I customize Google AdSense "advertise on this site"?

Much to my surprise, Google's suddenly started including an "advertise on this site" link on my Google AdSense blocks. I don't so much mind, but I would like to know how to customize or tweak the page that Google is showing when someone clicks on that link. Is that doable?

Dave's Answer:

It's not so obvious, but yes, you can customize the color, text, and even the logo shown on the Google "Advertise on This Site" page (it's called Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up by Google, by the way) that people are seeing. Here's how to tweak it:

Sign in to your Google AdSense account, then click on the My Account tab and scroll down until you see:

Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up configuration

Now, click on the cheery blue edit link and you'll see:

Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up configuration

As you can see, there's quite a variety of tweaking you can do, from your site name to your logo, site description, colors, and so on. Note that Google recommends you change these values from the default to make them more appealing to potential advertisers.

You can see the defaults here, but if you click on my own "Advertise on this site" link, you'll see the customizations I've made. Nothing earth-shattering, I admit, but hopefully helpful for potential advertisers who are interested in helping underwrite the cost of running this site.

Hope that gets you going with the customization you seek. Good luck!

Also, if you haven't yet signed up for Google's AdSense program, I encourage you to check out my earlier article Getting Started with Google AdSense.

Adsense target ads

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to place ads in my pages from a 'pre-determined set of ads' that I know are very relevant to the visitors to my page.

For example, my page visitors mainly belong to the 'buying class'. So I would like to put some ads on gadgets , cameras etc.. But my page content in non-technical, not related to photography..
So adsense puts some obscure ads... I know that we can specify keywords in Adsense, but again
What I want is not just any camera ad, but specifically say a Canon or Sony one..

In short, I need "Ad targetting"..

I know that my site's most visitors are young...But how do I put a matrimonial ad (that too specifically the one which I know is very popular..) ?

So, I already have a list of ads that I want to appear in my site. But my site's content is not about them.. How do I do this in ADSENSE...?

"Site Targetting" is being introduced by Adsense.
But what I need is "Ad targetting".. (not merely hinting with keywords)

thanks for any replies.

As far as I know, that's not a capability within the current AdSense system, Vagabond. It'd be nice to have keyword hinting, etc., however.
