How do I cancel my Yahoo Personals account?

This may seem naive, but - a friend of mine cut off her yahoo personals some months before meeting a significant other. She continued to recive Yahoo personals alert on her email, even after she was no longer a member, she was still appearing on their site (sans picture) even though inactive and told that she would be removed after 3 months. She managed to finally get herself removed but continued to receive alerts for replies to her profile. WHAT GIVES WITH THOSE GUYS - How do you escape their clutches??

Fairly straightforward answer: according to the Yahoo Personals help site, you need to do the following:

If you would like to delete your Yahoo! Personals profile, please visit:

Personals.Yahoo.Com

You may need to sign in using your Yahoo! ID and password.

When you get there, you'll need to click on Edit Profile then Delete your profile on the upper right hand side of the page. You should be able to get the same functionality by clicking on this link: Delete your Yahoo Personals profile.

Here's where I think your friend might have gotten tripped up, though:

"If you have a profile posted, deleting your profile will not cancel your subscription. If you would like to cancel your subscription, please click on the "Billing Info" link located on the home page."

Your friend should also change their privacy settings on their Personals account, if they can, to make sure their profile isn't searchable:

See the option I chose here? You'd want to, um, I mean your "friend" would want to choose the same.

I just spent an hour figuring this out so I'd like to share how I was able to finally find the cancellation method. It is actually pretty strait forward, though not obvious.

Step 1. Log into your personals account.

Step 2. Look above your personal photo and you will see something that says: "My Personals Status in the dark header bar. Look to the right of that and you'll see a link called: "Billing Info". Press that link and you'll be asked for your password again.

Step 3. To the right of the page you'll see two links. One says "Manage Services" and the one above that says: "View Service Details". Select manage Services."

Now your off to the races.

THANKYOU!!!! IT took me hours and hours of pure frustration and misleading "yahoo personals" instructions to finally get rid of the personals Auto-Renew feature!!! Did it tho! Happy camper now!

Itried to get yahoo personals to give me an address so i could send you my picture so i could join. I was told you do not do this. Please then, take me off your list, as i will not be joining your service. I don't know how to get a picture to you so i won't be joining.

I want to cancel my phone sign out. When I sign into my yahoo messenger I can send IMs but the responses are going to my phone. I get the responses after I sign back out into the sign into your phone. All responses come through at one time into my phone. I use to have another account that I used the same cell number but cancelled that account. still have the problem.

I finished my profile and submitted it for the personals but a few minutes later changed my mind and deleted it, but the message says I'm still active unless I go to Billing, but I can't find Billing. Will Yahoo start charging me now?
