I dunno if you can help me out, but I’ve been using Typepad for quite a while now and it’s time to move to my own blogging solution on my own server. My question is: how the heck do I actually cancel my Typepad account?
While I am a big fan of Typepad, I have to admit that their interface is a bit, um, Byzantine at best. There are a couple of steps you have to take once you’ve logged in before you can actually find the button you seek, the one that lets you cancel your Typepad account.
Let me take you through these steps. First, log on, obviously, then you’ll see the following set of choices along the top of the page:
Click on Control Panel , now you’ll see:
This time you want to click on the Account Info tab so we can progress with our Typepad task…
Almost there. At least you can now see the option you want: Cancel Account . Click on that and you’ll get a page of warnings (which is quite appropriate: read them before you decide to continue):
If you decide to proceed, you can cancel your Typepad account and vanish forever by agreeing to the terms of cancelation and clicking on Cancel Paid Membership . You’ll receive a confirmation of cancelation via email too, that specifies:
“This message is being sent to confirm the cancellation of your account on the TypePad personal publishing service with the domain of ‘ yourdomain .typepad.com.’ We’re disappointed to see you go, but we thank you for taking part in helping TypePad to become the best weblog and photo album tool possible.”
And that is how you cancel your Typepad account. Good luck with your new weblog!
