How do I add web links to my LinkedIn Profile?

Now that I've started to use LinkedIn, I'm paying more attention to everyone else's LinkedIn Profile too, of course, and i just noticed that some people are able to add links to their company and personal Web sites. I want to do that too! How do I add these links?

Dave's Answer:

That's a relatively new feature in LinkedIn, you're right, and it's pretty straightforward, as most of LinkedIn tends to be. To add these links, you'll want to start by going to your profile on the site: log in and click on the "My Profile" tab along the top.

Along with the various other sections along the top, you'll see "Websites":

LinkedIn: Add Websites to your LinkedIn Profile

Click on the "Add Websites" link (I told you it was easy!) and you'll now see this:

LinkedIn: Adding Websites to your LinkedIn Profile

The popup gives you a variety of options, including your RSS feed, your personal Web site, company Web site, blog, and so on. You can see that I am taking advantage of all three of the fields by specifying different sites of my own.

When I'm done specifying the different sites - and make sure you specify the "http://" prefix on your Web site addresses - I simply click on the "Save Changes" button on the page and now the links section on my profile info isn't blank:

LinkedIn: My Websites are now included in my LinkedIn Profile

Of course, I'd prefer if I could actually have it be the name of my site, name of my company and name of my weblog, but I'll still be happy with the active links themselves, because clickable always beats text that someone has to cut and paste to visit!

To add these fields to my Web-accessible profile (please see for more information about Web-accessible profiles on LinkedIn), I simply click on the "Web Profile" "Edit" button:

LinkedIn: Web Profile link

That's found on the right side of the "My Profile" area on your LinkedIn account. A quick click and you're now able to fine-tune exactly what you want shown on your publicly accessible LinkedIn profile:

LinkedIn: Web Profile configuration page

Notice that the cursor is pointing to the "Websites" checkbox: check it, and suddenly your listed Web sites are now included in your profile.

But don't believe this, believe your own eyes: My Personal LinkedIn Web Profile.

Cool, eh? Hope that gets you up and running with this useful new feature.
