How can I connect to MySpace at school?
Can u help me get into myspace because my school blocks it is there any way to get in, and if yes can u tell me how to me how and what i got to do to get in.

This is an awkward sort of question to receive, because there are some ways that you can redirect Web queries and otherwise mask what site you're visiting, something that I have no problem with if you're an adult and responsible for your own actions. For example, if I lived in China or the Middle East, I wouldn't want some government agency making the decision of what sites I could or couldn't visit, and would be pleased to know how to circumvent their filters and visit what I wanted to visit.
But you're in school, and I'm also guessing that you're in grades 6-12, not college, from your writing style and query, which means that you aren't legally autonomous and aren't really responsible for your own actions. Further, while I might sound a bit like an overly conservative stick in the mud, as a parent myself I am always concerned about filtering and protecting my own children from the dark side, the bad folk on the Internet.
The motivation behind your school blocking MySpace is doubtless the same, combined with a desire to ensure students stay focused on schoolwork when they're in school, using school resources, not messing around with social networking sites. It shouldn't be news to you that there are some bad people on MySpace and a little bit of help managing your interaction might well be of value, however tedious it may seem to you.
So my gut reaction is to say "no, you can't get around it. Rules are rules and if you want to get to MySpace from school, you need to be able to get permission with some sort of smart, logical argument to the administration." Indeed, I've written about how to block MySpace: How do I keep my kids off MySpace?
But perhaps I'm being a bit uptight about this particular issue, so I have also asked my friend Bennett Haselton, who runs the interesting Peacefire site, for his thoughts on this subject.
Bennett responds:
Peacefire.org lists four different methods on our front page for accessing blocked Web sites including MySpace.com, so at least one of those methods should solve your problem.
But I can't stop there, without responding to what Dave wrote. I volunteer with many smart and intelligent teenagers, and I'd like to think that I used to be one. When I first joined online discussions as a teenager, most people assumed I was an adult, and many teens online have had the same experience. If teenagers are so silly and immature, how come most people can't tell the difference when they can't look at the person and see how old they are?
The main reason teenagers aren't "autonomous" is not because they're lazy and dumb, it's because they're forced to work all day for free. If Dave had to spend all day writing papers and cramming for American History tests, he'd probably have to live with his Mom just like you.
Even if you think it's important for citizens to know their American history (and I do), there's no logical reason for forcing minors to learn it, but not adults. (If anything, there's a stronger argument for making adults learn it, since they're the ones who need to put current events in a historical context and cast an informed vote. I don't think either age group should be *forced* to learn history, but if you're going to require it of anybody, logically it should be the adults!) As it is, it's just more work that teenagers have to do for free, and one more artificial roadblock to their becoming independent.
In fact, for most of human history, teenagers were considered to be far closer to adults than to children. (Jewish kids don't have their bar mitzvahs at 18, after all.) What happened in recent centuries was that as jobs got more complicated, it became necessary to stay in school longer before you could go out and work. (Some of the things you learn in school do matter, after all.) However, just because you have to stay in school longer, that doesn't mean the *natural age of human maturity* has gone up. But we raised the effective age of adulthood anyway, and that's how we ended up with lunatic rules like the notion that you're not "mentally competent" to get a library card without parental permission when you're 17.
So, sorry to use your plight as a springboard for my political rant, but I hope you got your answer in the first paragraph. You're welcome.

Okay, so the schools have blocked every single way to get into myspace. I know, I know, it sucks but the district pays people to find out ways to get onto myspace and then they block it. Heres the thing. You can still get onto email sites such as AOL, YAHOO, HOTMAIL, VERIZON, and many others. So just create an account with any of those and tell your friends to do so aswell. Then you can talk to them easily. I have just stopped trying with myspace and I just go on at my house. You wont die without myspace for like 5 hours a day. As to those of you that are still trying to get onto myspace an wont ever stop...GOOD LUCK =]]

My high school, suddenly and unexpectedly, blocked all the ways to get on to myspace at school, including practically every proxy server known to man. I would really like to understand why they are blocking myspace. I can understand public chatrooms and other ways where perverted old men can talk to younger girls, but myspace? Honestly, it's completely harmless. You can even have friends only view of profile, you can edit what comments you want to be posted on your page, and it requirer login. It is the student's responsibility to NOT post any information about themselves that could result in an unwanted stalker. The school should be teaching about internet safety, instead of just blocking it all at school. When students go home and get on their computers, myspace isn't blocked then. Therefore they are not protecting any one. They should teach internet safety at the school, not just hide us from what happens anyway. They are not stopping anyone. They are just making our lives more complicated. But guess what school administrators, you can't stop us from doing what we really want. What you should be doing, is informing us about why it's wrong.
Internet safety, not blocking websites, is the right solution.

Sure a good deal of kids are pretty immature about it, but the minority of us responsible (and those of us who know how to speak English with proper grammar) feel a bit slighted by these blockings. I can understand them, but still..

You can access myspace from school via online web proxy server, hide your IP address and bypass firewall restrictions:

my school has blocked all websites except unfilterme.com. The only problem with that webiste is that it wont let you comment anybody and it wont let you see your friends page. But it does let you check and write messeges. I see if I can find anymore.

I see so many requests here to access myspace from school. And some justifications also. However, I dont think it is a very cool idea. I know how you feel, my office blocks a lot of sites and it is frustrating. But one reason that I think is justified to block myspace and other internet sites is that it is an attempt to make you lesser dependant on the internet to keep in touch with people.
Blogging, chatting, myspacing and orkutting etc have made people social morons, with them finding it easier to chat up to someone or comment online rather than talk to someone who sits in their vicinity (probably their classroom). I would love to go back to my school with no access to these websites. When you grow up your social circle with reduce automatically. You are just adding to the problem by being so addicted to the internet already.
The school is right. Being in school, I complained about a hundred things...including exams..but hey...in the end..they knew what they were doing. If they could they would probably restrict you at home too (not advisable) but that might lead to legal complications I guess.
Try restricting your dependancy on the internet, and be more aware of people around you. School is an awesome place, and you will miss it once you are out. Trust me.

hay im in 10th and i just want to say dont even try to get on myspace at school becuase,the schools have sever's and if you log in with your name on a computer and go to that site they will know it doent matter if your useing another site to reach myspace it just doent work because of the cookies and scrips get put on the server

Hey, everyone. I'm a junior in high school, and I've read all of these comments. I, too, wish to access Myspace from my school, if only to alleviate boredom during my Web Page Design class. However, I understand the school's side of things. They are responsible for our safety, and as much as we argue, the fact is that Myspace is no less dangerous than other sites like it. It may have safety features, but there are still creepy people on this site. Not only are sites like these read by the people who want to get on Myspace, they are read by the very administrators who block the sites from the computers in the first place. Myspace may be lots of fun, but your life will go on if you don't figure out how to access it at school. It isn't a matter of urgency that you can't access this site, trust me. So please, everyone, hack away, I mean, that's part of the fun, right? But keep your perspective, please. School is school, and it can't be too fun, right?
By the way, Dave, I think it's very clever of you to require your postees... (is that right?) to do some simple addition. It wouldn't let me post at first, because I put that 10+7=Fish. Very clever.

As an employee for a K-12 school there are a few simple facts that students forget most of the time...
The school is responsible for your safety both on and off line, and as much as you think myspace is harmless there are many cases of it being used as a new form of bullying among all the creeps that lurk on those sites.
Second, as students you don't have any "rights" to access anything on school owned resources - our policy is rather simple in the fact that if it can't be used for school then you don't need to be on it at school
Finally, what is the huge deal about not being able to get on myspace or facebook or any site like that for the 7 or so hours a day you are at school? If you truly can't go that long with being jacked into myspace or something similar you probably should be looking for something else to do anyway

at my school myspace is blocked too but students can get onto the webpage by using firefox another enternet browser loaded onto every computer in the school. it takes about fifteen minutes for firefox to open itself but from there myspace is just a click away.

Sup, the only way i can find right now well true-wiseguys.com worked till yesterday so might be up for yall but.. go to aol.com go to downloads and download it... install it.. delete it off the desktop... put the icon somewhere hard to find that u can remeber,, you have to have a aol account or make a new one up with trials... and log in u can go to anything.. but i would still go thru a proxy site neone will work at this point, or i guess you could just delete all cookies and historys after, just incase a teracher finds it on your computer they dont know u where on myspace... hope that helped

I recently set up a site which is a web based proxy, because this was becoming a problem for me. The URL is http://unfilter.net and it's helped me get past the work filters, which is better than I expected. I just hope it doesn't get blocked.

See, the reason none of these sights work is because everything you do is saved onto the history of your computer. The only way to ensure that the proxy website you're using can't be blocked is to go into the history and delete you ever being there. go to the back button and click the little arrow pointing down. click history. click today. then they'll never know you were there. or you can just live without myspace for a day, and just get on when you get home. 7 hours is not that bad.
