First photos of the Dell Adamo laptop

Dell just introduced a new laptop that's getting a lot of buzz because of its inevitable comparison with the popular Macbook Air (a laptop that I used here at Ask Dave Taylor, as it happens). I'm lucky to be here at SXSW 2009 where they're letting us play with one and got a bunch of photos of the computer adjacent to my own machine...

First off, some specs, straight from Dell's Web site:

• Intel® Core™ 2 Duo SU9300 (3MB cache/1.2GHz/800Mhz FSB), Pearl
• Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 Bit
• 2GB1 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 800MHz
• 128GB Solid State Drive
• Intel® GS45 Integrated Graphics with 256MB Memory
• High Definition Audio 2.0
• Intel® 5300 WLAN 802.11n (3x3) Mini Card
• 40 WHr Lithium Polymer Battery
• 13.4 inch 720p (HD) WLED Display (1366x768) with 1.3 MP web cam

Very nice specs, and the device is very attractive, no question. It's a huge step forward for Windows laptop design, but it's still just a catch-up attempt with Apple's world-class Macbook series, particularly the Air.

Here are some pics to see how they compare:

Hey Dave -

Given the side-by-side comparison, which would you prefer to have?

Shawn, it's definitely the coolest Windows PC I've ever seen, but I'm still an Apple fanboy, so I'll stick with my Macbook Air. :-)

I have something to say, now that you mention it, but ...
Starbucks coffee cup I do have a lot to say, and questions of my own for that matter, but first I'd like to say thank you for all your efforts on this Web site by buying you a cup of coffee!

I do have a comment, now that you mention it!
