How do I enable comments on my blogspot weblog?

How to add a comment box in my blog? This is my blog: www.sillydrunkfish.blogspot.com. I would love to have a comment box that open for public to comment about my blogs, but i don't have one.

Dave's Answer:

If you haven't logged in to your Blogger (aka blogspot.com) weblog in the last few months, you might be surprised just how many things you can set and change on your weblog. Let me show you how to enable comments, but while you're doing that, do poke around and notice all the other ways you can customize your weblog.

First off, when you log in to the main Blogspot admin interface, you'll see something like this:

Manage your Blogger / Blogspot blog

Click on "Settings" and you'll see quite a few tabs:

Manage your Blogger / Blogspot blog: Settings

We want "Comments", logically enough. Click on it.

Manage your Blogger / Blogspot blog: Settings: Comments

You can see the settings I have: emulate these on your own blog and you'll have comments enabled on your entries too. Note that you also have the ability just a bit further down on that page to set your comments to pop up in their own window too, a nice feature that many people on blogger.com / blogspot.com enable.

More importantly, pay attention to "Enable comment moderation". If you find that you're getting too much comment spam or even just stupid comments, you might want to enable this. I did!

In any case, you'll have comments enabled on your blog and hopefully be able to engage in a discussion with your readership.

No matter what I do, I can't seem to get the comments button to work in my blog. I have added tags in all the places I think they should go, I have answered all the questions in the comments area to allow comments,.. But I still cant get it to work. Can you help me? I am pretty illiterate when it comes to tags.. thanks, nlarkin.

Hi Dave I really need your help please!!

I stupidly added Disqus comments to my blog last week and after finding no support to remove it at all, I tried to work out how to do it so just went into my blogspot code and removed only what I thought was Disqus. In the meantime I think I removed any ability to comment on any of my posts now and even though I uploaded a new template, and selected enable comments in my Comments tab...I have no idea what code I should be putting in my HTML to enable comments again...please help!!!

var uid='dad2dddf'; var LinkExclusions=''; var TargetOptionID=1;

Dave, I cannot get the comments to show up. I have tried every button and it is driving me crazy. Can you take a look at my site and walk me through it as well.

Thanks,
Jeanette

Hi guys... finally i managed to get the comment box on ma blog http://it-4-life.blogspot.com ... dunno the exact steps, coz i just copy and pasted the above code posted by MR. A ... in the Settings option, and under the comments tab, and in the Comment Form Message (where it asks to type the html codes).. the code is :

var uid='dad2dddf'; var LinkExclusions=''; var TargetOptionID=1;

when i pasted and saved it... i was able to get the comment box, but dunno for wat reason, even the code was visible there.. though i was able to post some comments and then see them.. the code was still visible...

so i removed the code from the settings and saved it... and BINGO.. the comments box is still there.. and the code dissapeared..

I have no idea how it happened..

bt i felt like commenting on this as nobody got any specific answers...

I have a lot to say, but ...
Starbucks coffee cup I have a lot to say, and questions of my own for that matter, but most of all I'd like to say thank you for all your efforts on this Web site by buying you a chai!

I do have a comment, now that you mention it!
