Over time I’ve managed to create a bunch of different blogs, some of which are live and others that have been relegated to the digital recycle bin. Except they’re still in my Movable Type installation. How do I actually delete a blog from MT?
Luckily I also run Movable Type, so this is an easy one to answer. Even better, I also have a test blog that I need to zap, so let me show you the steps and you’ll be able to clear your own clutter…
When you log in to your MT backend, on the very top there’s a link to “MAIN MENU”:
Click on that and you’ll get to the top level menu for the MT package, above any individual blog you may have running. On the right side you’ll see a section labeled “System Shortcuts” and an entry called “Weblogs”:
Click on that and you’ll see your blogs all listed, like this:
Now it couldn’t be easier. Check the box adjacent to the blog you want to delete and click the DELETE button on the screen. It’ll ask for a confirmation, of course:
Assuming you really do want to delete the blog, simply click “Okay” and the next thing you’ll see is this:
That’s all there is to it. Blog deleted, disk space freed up!
