Checkpoint Task Scheduler is not running on Windows XP?I was changing my name (Jim H) from administrator to a user with limited privileges, with a password for both administrator and Jim H, and, when I rebooted, I got the following error message: "Checkpoint Scheduler... X... Task Scheduler is not running". I don’t know what this is. I’m thinking some program was relying on Jim H as a previous administrator, for something. I’m no longer administrator, but a user with limited privileges so I can surf the net, etc., with a little more confidence. I’m thinking some program is expecting Jim H, as adminstrator - which he no longer is - to do something. Any suggestion on how to identify this program so I can turn off the Checkpoint Scheduler? My OS is Win XP, Home, SP2... Thank you for any help This one stumped me, but a bit of digging on the net revealed a straightforward solution, courtesy of Microsoft MVP Wes Vogel: Whatever tasks that were scheduled to run expected to see your old account - Jim H. - as an administrator. Open the SchedLgU.txt and see what you can see. You can do that by starting up the text editor on that particular file: Start --> Run --> then type in SchedLgU.txt and click OK. Or, if you'd prefer a different - text only! - editor, open up C:\WINDOWS\SchedLgU.txt Or, if you'd prefer to use a more structured application, open Scheduled Tasks then, on the Advanced menu, click "View Log". I'd recommend that your first step be to try deleting all Scheduled Tasks, which can be done thusly:

Thanks, Dave, for all your research and help. I will copy and keep your answer for future reference. I found the problem - and corrected it in this particular instance. There is a Task Scheduler in a program called Recovery Commander, which was part of another program, Fix-It Utilities Version 5. I uninstalled version 5 and installed version 6, which I had previously purchased but not installed yet. The problem went away. Somehow version 5 became corrupted - probably due to my bumbling efforts. Thanks again for your help...Jim H Posted by: Jim Hamm at August 29, 2006 3:40 PMIn my case, I see the next runtime being set correctly. However, I don't see the last run time changing. Also, I am not getting the desired result. I am taking a backup of a folder via my batch file. I don't see any files copied unless I manually run the batch file. Posted by: Rehman at July 6, 2010 7:02 AMMy Windows XP Task Scheduler stops working. It used to work fine. I can Start it...it appears to run for several minutes, then it stops. There is no Start or error message in Schedlgu.txt. Nothing new has been added to the Task list. However, a new program was installed that utilizes RPC which I know Task Scheduler needs to run properly. Besides uninstalling the new program, is there a way to tell if I have an RPC conflict? Or do you have any other suggestions? Thank you in advance for all your assistance. Posted by: Gene at July 14, 2010 9:42 AMI have something to say, now that you mention it, but ...
I do have a comment, now that you mention it!
