Change Favorite TV shows and movies on my Facebook profile?

I meant to select a TV program that I liked for my profile. I actually selected a movie by the same name. I wanted to remove the movie but could not figure out how. Instead of removing the movie I blocked the logos for all of my preferences. What I would like to do is restore the full page of logos and learn how to delete an time that I mistakenly added. Thanks!

Dave's Answer:

With the organization of the new Timeline on Facebook, seems like those favorite movies, books, bands, etc have taken rather a back seat to your actual status updates. In fact, it took me a while to remember how to get to that particular information after I saw your question show up, but after a bit of stumbling around yet another interface update to Facebook and how we tweak our personal information, I figured out exactly what you need to do.

So here's the scoop...

You need to start out looking at your own Timeline on Facebook, so get to that by logging in, then clicking on your own name on the top left of your Facebook newsfeed page.

Now you'll see this:

Click on "About". Yes, it'd be nice if it were labeled "Edit Your Profile" or similar, but after all this time on Facebook, aren't you kind of getting used to the weirdness of its user interface?

On the next page you'll see all sorts of information about you displayed, but none of it's what you seek. In fact, you need to look for the "About" button on the top left again:

Click on it, then choose Likes from the pop-up menu that appears:

That was obvious, right? :-)

At this point you'll be looking at your favorite music, movies, books, TV shows, etc. But that's not the end of the puzzle, as you can see here:

To edit any of the sections on this page, you need to scroll back up to the top and click on the "Edit" button, as circled in the above screen capture.

Now if I scroll down to the "Television" section, I see the edit view of my favorites:

Yes, those really are some of my favorite TV shows. Including South Park. Surprised?

Since the show sputtered and ran out of steam, in my opinion, even with a second season about to start, I've lost interest in Falling Skies, so I'm going to remove it from the list. To do that, I simply click once to highlight it, then press the Delete key on my keyboard.

Instantly it's deleted and everything moves left to fill in the hole:

You can also rearrange television favorites on Facebook by simply dragging and dropping the icons. Try it. Want to add another show, or make sure you've liking the television show, not the movie? Type its name in the small input box labeled "What TV shows do you like?"

That'll fix your favorites listing. And you can add a new favorite or two, as desired, too.

When you're done, scroll back to the top of the page and where the "Edit" button was is now a button labeled "Done Editing". Click on it and everything goes to fullsize and cannot be modified. The television shows listing? That's gotten a bit bigger too:

So that's all there is to it. Armed with this, you should be able to quickly add all your favorite TV shows and movies so others can see what you're into. And once you're done with that, you can add one more "like" to your collection: Please "like" the Ask Dave Taylor Fan Club on Facebook! Thanks.
