Best place to buy a cheap MacBook laptop?

Hi Dave. I am looking for two gently used MacBook laptops for my teen daughters. Personal computers would greatly facilitate their studies as they enter their senior year in High School and beyond.

General preferred specifications:
1. 2008 model year or newer
2. 13.3" screen
3. white, black or aluminum body

Please let me know if you or anyone you know has recently upgraded and might be looking to sell their old computer.

What annual subscriptions do I have set up in PayPal?

As it's the last day of the year, I'm thinking about recurring billing that's going to kick in starting again in 2013 through my PayPal account. It's so easy to set up, and so easy to forget about until the transaction occurs again. Not good. How do I see every merchant I've pre-approved for a subscription or other recurring transaction on PayPal?

What's a used computer really worth?

Hi Dave. I bumped into this note on Facebook, a post from a friend: "Thinking about selling my 17" MacBook Pro. It's 3 years old, but with a 3- month old hard drive. Workhorse computer. Stickers over the Apple logo optional. I'll leave some software on there, too (MS Office, etc.) Best offer ... I'm figuring I can get $400-500 for it" But what's it really worth?

Can I buy stuff at an Apple Store with just my iPhone?

This is almost too hard to believe, but a pal of mine told me he's gone into the local Apple Store, scanned gear with his iPhone and paid for it directly on the phone, never having to interact with a salesman. When he's done, he walks out without a receipt, without a bag, or anything. This has gotta be a joke, otherwise what's to stop someone just walking out with thousands of dollars worth of gear?

Ripped off on eBay, any recourse?

Hello. I bought an item off of eBay a while ago and sent the money the next day. I then never got the item. So I tried to contact the person and he said he would give me a refund but never did. So I waited patiently for his reply but never got one.

I then filed a report 40 days after the time I bought the item but there were a couple of problems. I closed my paypal account maybe 2 days after the transaction due to an identity theft reason (I was paranoid) and I opened a new account. I asked the paypal representative that if this was a problem and she told me no and it would be still investigated and then she filed the buyer complaint under my new account.

After about 2 months or so I never got a response and decided to call back for an update. Then the man told me that paypal investigated it and said there was nothing he can do because the transaction took place on an old account and that he will file another buyer's complaint stating that I had to close the account due to identity fraud and told me to call back in 2 days.

So I call 2 days later and they tell me now that they cannot get my money back because I filed a complaint 2 days ago and it was not covered because they have a 45 day policy that says I cannot file a claim after 45 days. And that I am not eligible for the buyer's protection because I closed the account that had the transaction on. And if I wanted to I can file a police report but they cannot give me a name, or email or anything.

I'm desperate Dave what should I do?! We're talking about 150 dollars that I am out and that is a lot of money when you're going through college!
