Can't get standalone music player to work on MySpace?

Hey how can I put my own background music without a visible player on myspace? you know music that starts automatically.

Is there a code, or how is it possible to add more than the 4 songs on the standal one player? I have seen other artists with up to 9 songs they are able to put up, and allow others to add to their own web page. I am an artist, and would like to do the same. Please help!

The way to get the Standal one player, or get your own music uploaded to your myspace page is to make a band account on myspace. Then you can upload the music you want and attach it to your myspace page.

Ah yes, the old "MySpace Standalone Player is darn annoying, how can I change it" question series. :-) Yes, I agree that their default player is very limited in its capabilities.

There is, in fact, no way you can have more than one song in it if you're just a regular profile, and if you're a band, there's no way to have more than four songs. There are, however, other options for Flash-based audio players that you can explore. Start by doing a Google search for "mp3 player flash myspace" and you'll be surprised by the results! :-)

Oh, and stay tuned to this blog. Soon enough I'll have a simple and elegant alternative too.

OK, I'm going crazy. My daughter had me set up a Myspace and it's pretty cool, however I cannot get music to play for longer than a couple seconds on my standalone player. It will load, connect, buffer, and play for about three seconds, stop, and buffer again, and play for a few seconds, etc., all the way through the song. I emailed Myspace and about a month later got a reply that they're "working on it." But nobody else seems to have a problem and when I am at someone else's house and go on my site it plays the music all the way through. I have the latest version of Adobe Flash downloaded. So I just don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

Joseph, as far as I can tell, if you want to use the standard MySpace Standalone Player, then you need to have a musician's account. That's the simple answer. If you want to have *one song* you can just pick one from elsewhere in MySpace and set it as your profile song. I explain how to do that elsewhere on this site...

Hey I accidently typed in and then pasted all of the information from the source of my myspace page and then its on my xanga page, and it took it over so that I cannot edit my posts so as to delete the one that is ruining my page. All I wanted was to have the Standalone player, now I have all the properties of my MySpace page applied to my Xanga site. How do I change it back? hey Dave, you are incorrect. There is a way to have more than 4 songs onto a Stand Alone player. If you're on a major label, the people who work there with the artists can call up Music Myspace and have the people who run the site up the limit for them (I.E PDiddy, Hollywood Undead, etc.).

I have seen though, however, random artists who are NOT signed to any label to figure out a way to add more than 4 songs to their page. Do you know how they're doing this?

There's a reason for not using the built in MySpace player... it sounds bad. MySpace compresses the MP3s that are uploaded to them even more and the quality suffers. I'm using WimpyPlayer on my page, although having issues with a small player that others can paste into their MySpace profiles. Apparently there's an issue with I.E. that will cause a player to be invisible (although the music plays) and only appear on refreshing of the page. It's particularly vexing and I came across your page while searching for a solution to this issue.

Josh, you're right! The Flash players for music have random "eq meters" and audio display... :-)

Hi, I have a music profile on myspace but when I upload the songs they do not work. After 2 days of waiting for it to be loaded to server I tried to listen to the songs but the songs wouldn't play. Please check out my myspace see what happens and please tell me what is wrong.
I would send a song from garageband to iTunes, convert to AAC, change to .mp3, upload to myspace serever and the song does not work when I play it.

There is a way to get 5 songs on a music profile. If you add Bodog Entertainment to friends, you can get a 5th song. Check out my profile at myspace.com/acidizer for an example.

Ok, I am trying to listen to music on The Used's myspace profile, but all that comes up for the standalone player is a white box, it doesn't show the player, it's just white. Help please! I've been uploading my songs onto my MySpace Music page, but it's been over 48 hours and everytime I log on to my page, the song says it's "loading" but nothing ever plays no matter what you click. I've tried deleting the song and uploading again and uploading other files, but nothing works. What do I need to do to make sure I can upload my mp3 file songs onto my MySpace Music page again? You might be better off with a third party like www.soundspire.com. It goes anywhere with no problem.

The solution above will work on a regular html page but not on myspace.

To get your artists flash player on your myspace just copy the code starting with [embed] and ending with [/embed]

And voila now it will work!

And I'm pretty decent at html, but I couldn't get this one. I took the whole page source, and posted it to see if the music play would show up, but It didn't.
So I searched, and I came to your page.
So I did as you said, but As someone has already said, It was just a hunk of a code.

to get ur songs into mp3 format you can do it in itunes...

go preferences,
advanced,
importing,
then change the import using bit to "mp3 encoder"
then save changes etc etc and when u upload the songs theyl be in your itunes music folder on ur pc!

then just upload them onto ur band myspace

To view the "source code" where the "block of code needed" is located.. Right-click / click "View Source". (If you don't have that option when you right-click, try another browser like Firefox.)

Any band website I visit after my browser & computer have been on for long periods of time won't load music player section just says loading & never changes. Is there a way to fix this, like with an update somewhere, or is this just a myspace issue with that part of the site being down temporarily. I run a new hp compaq presario with vista as my os. And everything is fully updated as far as I know including flash player & java.

There is a better site at sicklaylist.com, but its not 100 percent DONE. But you can still create some sick little widgets, and pick songs for them, and get the code. All that is working.

Go to music.myspace.com and look for the link in the upper right hand corner that says "Artist Signup" and click on it.
