Call of Duty 4: Winning Team Deathmatch Tactics

Team Deathmatch is one of the more populated modes on Call of Duty 4 multi-player and also the first mode available to play. The object of this mode is relatively simple, to stay alive and kill enough players on the opposing side to attain the 750 point goal.

It's that staying alive part that can be tricky, though, so if you are one of those players finding that most of their session is spent watching the 'Kill Cam' maybe its time for you to change your tactics...

If you are new to the game altogether, don't worry if these tips don't help too much at first; you will first need to experience a break-in period where you familiarize yourself with the different maps. That goes for seasoned players as well. If you haven't already, make sure that as you play the game and cycle through maps you are also mentally noting the preferred hiding spots for both yourself and your enemy.

Experiment with several different weapon combinations, especially after you have unlocked the 'Custom Class' option. Cycle through your various weapons and perks and save the ones that prove the most useful for certain level types. Name your classes so they are easily identifiable, for instance "Full Assault" can be the name of your most aggressive combination.

Hand in hand with familiarizing yourself with each level is to learn to trust and rely on your mini-map in Call of Duty 4. This tool can prove highly useful in locating enemy soldiers. You can either follow your team to the nearest concentration of red dots or fall back and pick off any enemies coming from behind you. Knowing where the enemy is puts you at an obvious advantage right from the get go.

MOVE! Unless you are setting up to snipe down enemies, you should be in constant motion. It's way harder to shoot at a moving target. A good way to draw enemy fire (thus giving away their position) and not get killed is to run a 'sprint and crouch' tactic. Anytime you aren't crouched and taking cover next to a building or obstacle you should be sprinting to another.

The crouch/prone positions are a vital part of your tactics. These positions significantly improve your accuracy and are much more low profile, giving you the opportunity to scout for any enemy movement without being a blatant target.

In a situation where you have taken fire you can feign your death by immediately dropping to the prone position. Whether the other player leaves you be or goes to inspect his kill you are alive and well with his character down your sights.

Call of Duty 4 allows players on a team to communicate through a headset. If you have one you should use it. Communication with the headset can benefit both you and your teammates. They make it easy for your teammates to inform you of an enemy's location and likewise you will be able warn them.

Often times a team that efficiently communicates ends up dominating a round, strictly because the headset encourages players to operate in a more organized and cohesive effort towards achieving match goals.

Communication is key to winning, also knowing where your enemies are and knowing your way around the map.

One really good tip that I didnt see mentioned here is AIM LOW. Works good for 2 reasons, 1 if you have a gun that rides up (AK for example) if you aim low and let it travel you get the kill more times than not. 2 if they drop to a prone position you still have them in your sights.
