Can I add a daily Sudoku puzzle to my blog?

I have been trying to jazz up my weblog in various ways and have decided that it would be extraordinarily cool to add a daily sudoku puzzle. Problem is, I have zero programming ability. Is there any way to do this?

Dave's Answer:

In fact there is, through Google Gadgets. There are hundreds of 'em, including two Sudoku puzzles. Let's pick one and I'll add it here to this blog entry so you can see just how easy it is:

Connect to the Gadgets page then look in Fun and Games to find the different Sudoku puzzles, or just search for sudoku directly. Now pick Ad-Free Sudoku Puzzle and you'll see this:

Not too scary yet, is it? Now click on "Add to your webpage" and you'll see that you can actually customize it a bit, which is really nice:

I'll leave all the defaults but you can spend some time fiddling with these settings. If you do make changes, make sure that you click on the "Preview Changes" button to see how they'll work. Some of them are instantly applied but it can be deceptive!

Finally, click on the "Get the Code" button and a little additional pane will open up on the bottom of the page, like this:

Now just copy and paste the code into the appropriate spot on your Web page and you'll suddenly have a Sudoku puzzle just like this:

(that's a live puzzle: try it!)

Hope that helps you get going with Google Gadgets. THere are tons of 'em and it's really fun to look at what you can add to your Web page, blog or even social networking site profile.

Dave, thanks for the great info. I am in the process of setting up my blog and really don't know what I am doing. One of the things I wanted to do is put a puzzle on my site but had not idea how to go about it. Also, thanks for the insight on generating traffic. What's the deal with the math problems?

Good questions above, actually I seconded to ask for that on adding a daily sudoku puzzle on my site I've just created that talks about Puzzles Sudoku as well. Thanks!

Hi Dave, I don't want to sound ungrateful (because I am not) but I think the problem most people will experience is with the copy and paste part. You see, the process of copy and paste is known to us all, but unless the user has knowledge of html/web design ie knows where to login, which file to use, where to paste the code on his site, I doubt s/he will be able to deploy the script. Hope I have expressed myself correct here. Eddie

I am new to making my own websites and blogs but found it really easy to put a sudoku game on my site. I have no html code experience but was able to find a script that I could copy and paste and it works great.
