Nifty online utility for building Favicons
if your browser shows the little icons next to URLs - in which case you should see a lightbulb next to the booktalk URL right now - then you might be asking yourself how you build these
favicon.ico graphics and incorporate them into your own Web site.

How do I include a "favicon.ico" on my Web pages?
An artist buddy of mine created a little favorites bookmark icon for my web site [they're properly called favicons or, if you want to use the name of the file, "favicon.ico" files] but I don't know how to specify on my pages that I have one of these favorites icons. Can you offer up the HTML I need?

Why aren't my favicons displayed?
Hello Dave, I work on Mac OS X and I have been trying to add a favicon.ico to my website's address bar, only to find that it only shows when I open it with Netscape or Firefox, all the other browsers like Safari and Explorer don't seem to recognize it.... Can you help?? It is driving me mad...

Why doesn't Safari show me favicons any more?
Dave, prior to my finding your great article on
Can I selectively Remove Safari Favicon Icons? I took the brute force strategy of deleting all the cached icons in the Safari library folder so that the browser would see my new favicon. But now instead of showing the favicon.ico graphic, crazy Safari doesn't show me
any favorite icons at all. What could be wrong?

Can I selectively remove Safari favicon icons?
I've been slowly adding all the nifty features to my new Web site and am going a bit crazy with Safari. I changed my
favicon.ico favorites icon for my Web site, but Safari insists that it's not right, though when I view the site in Firefox, Camino or any other browser it's fine. How do I get Safari to be happy?

Search Engine Friendly, or Easy Navigation?
Dave, I'm enjoying your new book Growing Your Business with Google. However, I have a question relating to your advice to post navigation links on the right rather than the left side: I understand that doing so could improve results placement, but this improvement might be less important than ease of use of the site.
Other authorities point out that left-side navigation links are more-or-less standard, and that users are more likely to stay with a site if site elements appear where expected. Could you comment?
